Economy

The economics of Pásztó is mainly determined by the industrial companies. Besides the Hungarian small- and medium-sized companies there have several companies been present with Austrian and Belgian ownership background for decades. 
The EGLO Magyarország Kft is one of the most significant enterprise of the county, its annual turnover is more than 30 billion HUF. Last year they had more than 800 employees.

Education

Besides the Zsigmond Király Primary School and Art School, the Town Kindergarten of Pásztó and the Roman Catholic Kindergarten and Primary School of the Hungarian Saints also provide good educational background. The Mikszáth Kálmán High School, in addition to its well-known trainings, offers bilingual education in Hungarian-German and French-Hungarian as well.

Culture

The main attraction of the town, besides its traditions, is the medieval ruins garden and its surroundings.
Here is located the only schoolbuilding of Hungary from the 15th century that can be reconstructed, the Oskolamester house. 
The building of the Cisterian monastery serves as the Museum of Pásztó in these days. The former watermill was an integral part of the area, its renewed surroundings strengthens the attractiveness of the neighborhood.

Sport

The Leisure Sports Association of Pásztó was established in 1968. The proximity of the Mátra offers many opportunities to the enthusiasts of active tourism, like gliding, hang-gliding, paragliding, rock climbing and hiking. The reservoir of Hasznos is a popular recreational and fishing paradise in the area, and by transforming the curative pools of Pásztó into a thermal spa, it will become a complex institution offering its services during the whole year.
